Shania Twain – NOW

October 9, 2017

By Louisa

The Queen of country-pop Shania Twain returned on September 29 with her first studio album in 15 years entitled ‘NOW’. Shania wrote every song on the album. It is her first project produced without her ex-husband Mutt Lange. Shania has called it her most personal album as it details her spilt from Lange and the journey she has been on since then. Twain has battled health problems. She has spoke about the loss of her voice and the struggles she faced getting back into the recording studio.

Here are my top five picks from the brand new disc.

1.  Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed

The album opens with “Swingin’”. The song includes a hint of reggae and has a thumping beat. It’s classic Shania. Shania sang it during her set at BBC Live In Hyde Park and received a great response from the crowd. She premiered the video clip on album release day. Shania wears a sexy glittery jumpsuit and looks better than ever!

2. Home Now

Shania takes us back to her country roots on the second track on the album. The track features banjo instrumentation. She revealed in a recent interview she wrote the song a long time ago. I would like to see it as a radio single in the future.

3.  Because Of You

This gorgeous love song was penned by Shania especially for her husband Fred. Shania is no stranger to a love song. She’s the woman behind such classics as “You’re Still The One” and “Forever And For Always”. This is a sweet tribute to her man. A track any couple can relate to

4. Life’s About To Get Good

The lead single was “Life” which Shania premiered back in June. The track didn’t fare well at radio but it is a decent comeback single. Shania talks about how she broken and shattered but looks on the bright side of life and realises it’s not all bad. “Life’s about joy, life’s about pain.”, she sings. This track will have you smiling and singing along in no time.

5. Solider

My final pick is the beautiful “Solider”. Shania admitted she cried whilst writing it and it’s easy to see why. The song is featured in the upcoming movie ‘Thank You For Your Service’. It pulls on the heartstrings. The song will connect with wives and girlfriends of service men all over the world.

Other notable mentions: “I’m Alright”, “Roll Me On The River” and “All In All”.

Listen to Shania NOW on Apple Music and Spotify. Shania’s 2018 UK tour kicks off September 21, 2018. Tickets available now. Go to www.shaniatwain.com for updates.

Congrats to Shania on scoring the #1 album in the UK this week!
