Alison Krauss Windy City Review

May 26, 2017

By Louisa McGuinness
After several years away Alison Krauss returned with new music in February 2017.

Windy City is a mixture of classic country recordings, covers of Glen Campbell and Brenda Lee among others. Krauss makes these songs sound fresh and completely her own.
The track “River In The Rain” sounds like it was made just for her. One of the standout tracks is “Dream Of Me”. A song Alison no doubt can relate as it talks about being separated from the one you love whilst on the road. She does a wonderful interpretation of Campbell’s “Gentle On My Mind”. “It’s Goodbye”, “And So Long To You” is a swinger and is completely in her wheelhouse.
The production is solid throughout. She worked with producer Buddy Canon on the entire project. The album is different to her past work with Union Station, but she makes it work. It’s a welcome return for the bluegrass icon.

Except Krauss to pick up some GRAMMYS next year. She already has a staggering 27 awards.
Key Tracks: Dream Of Me, Gentle On My Mind, It’s Goodbye And So Long To You, River In The Rain

You can purchase the album Windy City on Amazon or on iTunes/Google Music.
